Futurecop! The Unicorn and the Lost City of AlvograthJust a quick one today, inspired by the Valerie and Friends album I’m in full retro mode at the moment! Futurecop! are probably one of the most well know (certainly in the UK) artists from the Valerie collective. They produce a refreshingly mellow style of electro-house that can suit many moods - from the dance floor to the sofa. They have often been quoted as saying that they imagine their songs being played during the credits of old 80’s films, such as Back to the Future, and I think this comes across when you actually hear the songs.

Hmmm, I always thought they were an emo band. Turns out - they aren’t! I’ve only heard this album (Brain Thrust Mastery), and I must say I’m thoroughly enjoying their brand of indie-pop! With loads of 80’s influence the songs are suitably catchy and flow nicely.

Daily Rec: Shooting Angels by IQ

Recently I’ve been on a quest for Prog. I’ve been bored waiting for the delivery of my nest ‘Spock’s Beard’ album, so I went looking for something to fill the time. And what did I stumble across? IQ. Now this song is kinda prog… But to be honest it’s more late eighties/early nineties pop masquerading as prog. But that’s fine!
