This isn’t really a recommendation - more of a plug really I guess. I just thought it was worth letting you know about eMusic - it’s a digital download site like iTunes or 7digital - but they will give you 25 free songs when you sign up.

Time for a slightly obscure recommendation now. This song is by Michael Kastrup - who I believe is a musician/software designer - and is a demo of a VST softsynth plugin for audio software… Basically Mike, as I shall now be calling him, designed a software-synthesiser to create electronic music…

I logged on to last.fm this morning to find that there’s a new Edwin Van Cleef mp3 for download - how pleasent! For those of you who’ve never heard of him, Edwin is a British electro-house artist. He has a similar style to Russ Chimes or Futurecop! - influenced highly by the glamour and glitz of disco.

You know Justice, right? Right? If you do then this post will most likely be useless to you, because you will already appreciate what an impact they’ve been making over the last couple of years. If you don’t know them then I am here to help!

Just for those of you that don’t know Justice are at the forefront of the recent wave of a new breed of house music. Primarily consisting of artists from France, the movement is sometimes known as, or referred to as the French Touch. Artists behind this movement, and particularly Justice, fuse elements of electro-house and glitch house with highly saturated synths to create a very abrasive sound.

Once again last.fm has thrown another cracking artist my way! I don’t remember the exact station I was listening to, but I think it was the ‘filtered house’ station. Whatever it was I heard this song, ‘Peach’, by Louis La Roché.
