Album: As Daylight Dies
By: Killswitch Engage

As Daylight Dies - Killswitch EngageA suitable title for a suitably emo album! Well, ok, maybe not emo in the popularised mainstream sense - more as in the emotionally inspired metal sense. Whatever(!) The only thing that really matters is that this is a great album!

There may be several reasons you might like this album - but for me it has to be the epic choruses and melodic passages. The bellowing vocals of Howard Jones fit perfectly to the massive guitar riffs and are accentuated nicely between the more brutal screaming that you would expect to find in a metal album.

As Daylight Dies is one of the few albums that I am perfectly happy to sit through all the way without wanting to skip any of the tracks. Of course I do have my favourites. These include The Arms of Sorrow, Eye of the Storm, This is Absolution and my favourite, My Curse. All are fine examples of perfect post-hardcore songs - to my mind at least. A mix of brutal vocals and grumbling guitars - set against heart-felt, melodic sections. A simply epic mix.
