Daily Rec: Miles and Miles by The Flashbulb
I am totally loving IDM at the moment, and todays recommendation comes from what has to be one of the finest examples of an IDM album there is. Kirlian Selections by The Flashbulb is filled with about 25 songs of pure brilliance. Many of the tracks have a very soft and gentle tone - Miles and Miles is one such song. Largely based on acoustic guitars, and even a ukulele in parts (if I’m hearing it right) if this was the only Flashbulb song you’d heard you would be forgiven for bot making a connection with IDM. The song travels through fusion, folk, chillout and even has an almost orchesdtral theme towards the end! My only ‘complaint’ would be that the vocals sound a bit weak - the soft (almost) shakey singing fits fine in the song, but over all they could be more prominent in the mix in my opinion. But all in all that gripe is just a drop in the ocean, and in no way stops this song being a masterpiece.
