Daily Rec: Transient by Pluxus
To start with, a question: is this song IDM? I just can’t fully make up my mind. It kicks off with some odd scratching, followed by some haunting synth melodies. A simple piano track sits above it all nicely. It’s quite similar to the work of Clark - and in particular to a song which I blogged about quite some time ago, Ted.
However, then all this gets interupted rather abruptly and the song completly changes it’s style and mood. Some, almost folk sounding, guitars come in and gradually the track builds to a steady groove, which is very pleasing! Reading some comments online I notice a lot of people don’t like this section and think it ruins the song. Personally I like it, it sounds good, and although the transition into this section could be a bit smoother it transforms back into the more chilled sound really well and makes you appreciate it’s beauty all the more.
Finally, I have another question… What advert is this song from? Ten points if you get it right!
