Daily Rec: Room 208 by Future Sound of London

After seeing them at BLOC last weekend I’ve discovered I love Future Sound of London! I first discovered them when Wikipedia listed this song under the entry for IDM. I listened to the sample, bought Room 208, and then pretty much forgot about them… Which is a real shame, but it does mean that I get the pleasure of discovering them all over again! I’ve got the album Lifeforms on order from Play.com now - so expect to see more FSOL in my recs soon!

This song in particular is perhaps not quite what I would call IDM - it’s certainly a far cry from the more abbrasive releases from artists such as Aphex Twin - but there is a certain minimalist experimental side to it. Once you’re through the multi-layered intro the song sets about soothing you with a steady groove and chilled synths, a great late night tune.
